Deepika Padukone Makes The Plunging Neckline Look Elegant, Not Trashy

While most others might have ended up looking trashy in a dress like this, Deepika managed to pull it off like a pro
The last few years have seen Deepika Padukone's sense of style evolve immensely. As a former model, she was better turned out and more poised than the average Bollywood debutante when she made her first film, Om Shanti Om, in 2007. But in contrast to Deepika now, Deepika then was just a work-in-progress, so to speak, in terms of fashion. Over 10 years and several hit films later, Deepika Padukone is now not only a marquee name to reckon with but also a style star, almost unrecognisable from the girl-next-door of the Bachna Ae Haseeno era.
Then, Deepika Padukone stuck to basics and safe silhouettes; now, she's a leader in the fashion world thanks to her unusual, bold and experimental style. It helps, of course, to have access to the kind of A-list designers that Deepika does, and it also helps to have her killer body. But what's most important, and most elusive for the rest of us, is the confidence with which she wears difficult garments.

The dress Deepika chose to wear at the Hello! Hall Of Fame Awards held on Sunday in Mumbai was a clear example of her avant garde style. Deepika's icy white dress from Falguni And Shane Peacock with exaggerated sleeves, a small train and a gold belt around the waist bagged Deepika a place on every best dressed list. But what really caught everyone's eye was Deepika's hard-to-miss plunging neckline and the way she carried it off so elegantly.

While most others might have potentially ended up looking trashy or even unwittingly signed up for a wardrobe malfunction with a dress like this, Deepika managed to pull it off like a pro. Some would even say she looked stunning to a fault.

Seems like Deepika has had some practice, though, as far as pulling off plunging necklines is concerned. It's no wonder she's perfected it.

Remember the gold Monisha Jaising dress she wore to the Lux Golden Rose awards in 2017?

And the Sabyasachi not-saree saree that she wore for GQ Fashion Awards last year?

And let's not forget Deepika's shiny gold Naeem Khan dress from the premiere of her Hollywood debut xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage in India.

Deepika has even pulled off a power suit with a plunging neckline. And no points for guessing, she looked far from trashy.

So if you're looking for pointers to pull off a plunging neckline while looking as classy as you can, take your cue from Deepika Padukone.
Not only is Deepika Padukone reportedly the highest paid female actor in Bollywood and acclaimed for performances in films like "Padmavat," Piku and Bajirao Mastani, the actress also regularly makes headlines for her flawless sense of style. It is a hard-won distinction, as is her current exalted status at the box office. Once dismissed by her contemporaries as 'trying too hard' in the fashion department, Deepika is now admired and feted for the clothes she wears.
